Mailroom Phenomenon

Reed

Speaking with my MIL about my frustrations trying to find a stable 9-5 and somehow we came to this topic.

So you know way back when people have worked their way up through a company from the mailroom. People were able to snag jobs without experience (my MIL chalked that up to “its all about who you know”). This doesn’t apply to trades and jobs that require a specific degree. Think sales, legit call centers, desk jobs, etc

So how come this day in age companies want you to have extensive experience even out of college? What happened to job training? Depending on the candidate should companies make exceptions sometimes?

Or just tell me your overall thoughts
