Anyone else has or is going to teach their baby more than one language?

My husband first language is Hindi and mine is English. This is our first... how do you get a kid to be bilingual? Do I speak English and he speaks Hindi or do we teach one language at a time?

One parent one language works best! Special focus on the non-English language is important as the child will pick that up in school and the world they live in.

I speak English to my daughter and my husband only speaks Dutch. I suck at speaking Dutch but can understand it so he typically talks to me in Dutch as well and I answer in English. Our daughter is 2 now and can bounce back and forth easy. She is also realizing we call things by different names. Example: she'll say "Mama Shark, Papa Haai".

My husband and I both speak English but I would like the baby to be exposed to another language early. We plan to read and sing in Spanish until we can get into a bilingual preschool as well as include baby sign language to our home.

We are doing English and Spanish since my husbands side is all Spanish speaking. We are gonna speak both languages from the start in the home. We also found a lot of bilingual books for baby’s and kids that have basic things (shapes, colors, animals, etc) and has both the English and Spanish versions 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think you should both speak both at home. My kids have been in bilingual school since pre k and even the daycare they go to helps them with speaking in Spanish. I think the more it’s spoken at home and in school will help a child open up more to the language because they’ve heard it while in the womb
