Should family be important to you? Why? (read below)

For the purposes of this poll, I'm referring to the blood/legal family you are born into, NOT including your S/o or any children.

I see so many people who are very close to there family, or feel obligated to them because they are related. I'm not close to any of my blood or legally related family besides my dad, and I have a BIG family. I have an aunt that I am close to but we arnt related legally or by blood, all the people I am close to, I have chosen to be in my life. I just don't understand loving someone simply because you are related.
