How have you trained your pup to leave the Christmas tree alone?

I love to go all out with my Christmas decorations (picture of my tree last year), but we got another pup earlier this year. She is still just a baby, but prpbably already close to 60-70lbs. She still gets into things shes not supposed to and has tons of energy, but she also doesn't realize her size. She still acts as though she is itty bitty. We are still working on her training.

I would be upset if I couldn't put my tree up this year, but I know she would tear it apart in a heartbeat. I was thinking maybe setting it up gradually may help. I would set up the bare tree and leave it like that for a few days-a week to get her used to it being there. Then, once she is used to that, add the lights. Then, a few days later, add just a few ornaments around the bottom and depending on how she does with all that, I would then completely decorate it. I use all plastic ornaments.

Anyone have any other tips that may help? I don't see a baby gate working. She would still find a way. Gradually getting her used to it is the only thing I can think to do, while teaching her during each step to leave it alone.
