Umbilical hernia- 27+ weeks

Brooke

This is my second pregnancy and with our first I had an umbilical hernia but it never caused much pain or discomfort. When I had my gallbladder removed 3 months postpartum with our first I had the hernia repaired. Now being 27 weeks with our second I’m experiencing another hernia in my belly button. The pain is much worse and causing me to be nauseous and unable to do much, including lifting our daughter. I called my midwives and they said to use my belly brace as I have been and to tape my belly button and take it easy.

Has anyone experienced something like this and what helped you with pain?

I was thinking of going to the er for pain control but also just to make sure no tissue or organs were being strangulated as I’ve read that can be an issue with umbilical hernias. My midwives basically said to tape it and rest but I’m just concerned but don’t want to over think it either.

If you had this at what point did you decide to go to the ER or what did you choose?
