Where?

Question

Where do you take your little one? Parks? Museums? Where? 
My son loves day care, his teachers and kids. But, I am graduating and we will have no need in day care for a while. I want him to stay social since he loves it quite a bit. Any suggestions? He is 14 months.

Answer

He’s not going to really socialize with other children much until he’s a little older. Kids that age just sort of play next to each other. Getting out and about is definitely a must though. I signed my daughter up for a gymnastics class at a local rec center when she was two. She loved that. We also have a pass to an aquarium and the zoo in our city. I have taken her to a toddler jump arena as well that she loved. Starting a play group is a fun idea too.

We mainly frequent parks or have play dates with other SAHMs. But check with your local library because they can also offer fun programs for kiddos of all ages! Ours does a story time twice a week for several age groups where they sing, dance, learn songs, read books, and get to play with other kids. My little dude loves it. Also if you have any indoor play centers in your area, those are always fun for them and they still get to socialize.
