Good sleeping no more

Looking for suggestions, or stories if you’ve gone through this same thing. My daughter is 20 months and has generally been a good sleeper all her life. The last three months or so have been a different story. We have never changed anything with the environment or her bedtime routine or anything like that. She wakes up several times a night crying. We can’t figure out what to do. We’ve tried going in but not picking her up and trying to console/calm her down. We’ve tried letting her cry it out for awhile (I know it works for some people but I’ve never been a huge fan of this. I just don’t have the heart to let her hysterically scream for over an hour). We have got her out and rocked her back to sleep, but the SECOND we lay her down she is hysterically crying again. I just feel like we’ve tried every option I can think of, and nothing is working. It’s really wearing me out. 😞
