Did you experience relationship challenges with your SO after baby was born?

My relationship has been tested for sure, and I'm wondering how common this is. Hoping things get better soon.

We attended couple's counseling during my pregnancy to help us prepare for the changes we were going through.

Yes sleep deprivation meant we both had short tempers. And I had to really learn to ASK for help when I needed it and praise him for his contributions. It’s easy to only see your side of things. Try to remember they are contributing too.

Life was bliss pre-baby. After baby, I pretty much never want to have sex again. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It’s been two years and still would be happy to never have it. Before baby, I was actually the one with the higher drive.

It’s an adjustment period for everyone, it takes time remember to talk about your feelings don’t bottle them up as it’s no good for anyone

It’s definitely something that happens even when it’s your second or third kid. You’re both adjusting from going from the two to three people and trying to grow together as a new unit while taking care of this tiny person who’s only way of communicating is screaming and crying. It’s stressful on both and at times it’ll seem like one of you does more than the other but you’re no doubt doing the same amount just in different ways/areas. Getting out for the occasional date without baby can help you reconnect as a couple and relearn one another because while you’re trying to adjust as a couple and new parents you’re also growing and changing individually and can take a step back by not learning one another all over again.

My fiancé had untreated mental health problems and the birth of our baby made him have a mental breakdown.  It was horrible.  He got treatment and was fine two months later, he’s a great dad now but yeah baby can definitely make things complicated.  I nearly became an alcoholic due to depression 😪 but these were mostly because again, prior mental health problems.  
If you guys have issues prior to birth that you haven’t dealt with then yes, the sleep deprivation, hormones, and no time to self will make those things explode.
