Miscarriage without family history?

Question

Has anyone here been the first person in their family to have a miscarriage? Speaking to your parents, in laws or grandparents? To my knowledge no one on either side of our family has miscarried before me, makes it all the harder to not blame myself.

I was the first as well and my mother, god bless her, is the eternal optimist and very religious so as much as I get that she’s only trying to help she just keeps saying all the things you shouldn’t say (it’ll happen in time, this is all part of God’s plan, don’t worry, etc) so I just don’t really talk to her about it anymore even though I wish I could. She had 3 healthy kids including me at age 41. My sister has been slightly more helpful because she had a baby that was born at 27 weeks so she at least knows some of the struggle and self blame but still ultimately had a child that grew up healthy. I have turned to a lot of friends instead who have been through miscarriages although even in this case they all have their rainbow babies already so it’s still a bit different perspective. Hang in there, I know it can feel even harder when your family doesn’t understand ❤️

No one in my immediate family (on my moms side) ever had one either. That I know of or that they’ve shared. I’ve just learned to accept and believe that my miscarriage was just one of those things that happen...unfortunately. You learn to stop blaming yourself. Though now, I still have a lingering fear that something can go wrong with this rainbow baby, but with each passing day and week, the fear gets smaller and smaller.
