Has anyone hired a nanny?

I work from home full time and go back at the end of next week. I've been trying to hire a nanny to help so I can actually work, but the process is challenging, plus I'm so nervous about having someone else in the house taking care of my son. But I know I would rather this than put him in daycare. Anyone out there in a similar situation?

I’m in the same boat. We found a daycare we like, they have 3 babies per teacher and teachers seemed really good, and baby is assigned to a specific one. We would be putting him from 6 months. 
But most people around me do nannies. I’m think maybe I’m making a mistake, maybe a good nanny is better. But I have no idea how to find one I can trust. At least the daycare is certified and has lots of yelp reviews and has been around for a long time. How can I trust a random person, that let’s say a coworker refers to me, or I find on a website. I can do background checks but that’s not enough! 
I honestly have no idea how people do it. I am definitely interested but very afraid of getting it wrong.
