Waking a sleeping baby.

I just had my daughter one month ago.
I was told to wake my daughter up if she is sleeping more than 4 hours to feed. Some people tell me to let her sleep and to “not wake a sleeping baby” due to the fact she will let me know when she is hungry others say she needs to be woke up to eat. What do y’all do?
