Did anyone else have an emotionally traumatic experience from IUD insertion

I just got the Liletta this morning. It was really painful, like nothing I’d ever experienced before and since then I’ve had cramps on and off and been crying every time I start to feel any pain at all even though I’m not in any unbearable pain. Thinking back on the experience at all is really emotional as well.

I've had a baby, so it was not as bad as someone who probably has not had one. Cramping for me lasted at most 3 days. I have anxiety so I was scared going and getting it done. Your gyno should have told you to take ibuprofen

Oh gosh I feel your pain :( mine lasted for about a week I believe but the same cramps still come back the first day of my period. Try Motrin 800 definitely was a life saver!!

I had bad cramps during insertion and then 2 weeks of bad cramps. I wouldnt say an emotional reaction.

Take 600-800 mg ibuprofen and see if that helps. 
When I got mine I took 800 mg Ibuprofen an hour before and also 1000mg Tylenol and between those and a Numbing shot I didn't feel it. I did have cramps afterwards though so keep up with taking ibuprofen for a few days. Take with food and don't take these high doses for more than 5 days

Mine was pretty traumatic too. The most pain I’ve ever had (but I’ve never broken any bones or given birth so I don’t have much to compare it to) right after I got it in I had to poo really bad so I waddled over to the bathroom after I got dressed, which was really difficult to do when you’re cramping that bad. And after I went poo I stripped my clothes because I was hot and just fell straight from the toilet to the floor and laid on the bathroom floor. It’s gross I know but in my mind it was the only thing that would help because I was so light headed and hot. After about 15 minutes of straight cramping and no breaks it started to gradually lighten up. After that it was mostly just very bad period cramping. But man that was rough for me and I don’t know if I’d do it again. Taking it out is not NEARLY as bad. I was nervous because of my experience getting it in. But it seriously is like a slight period cramp for 10-15 seconds and it’s gone completely. You might feel just a smidge sore on the inside like your cervix, but it’s not even bad at all.
