My birth story!
*long post & sorry for some lack of details, some things are a blur*
Finally it's my turn! On January 10th (my due date) I was scheduled to be induced on the 16th at 6pm and on the 15th I was to have my NST at 8:30 AM. On the morning of the 15th (40w4d) I woke up at 6 AM with light cramping that came and went, being a first time young mom I didn't know what contractions felt like. I never had Braxton hicks or anything through out my pregnancy. After timing them for an hour, they were anywhere from 8 to 2 minutes apart.

After waking my boyfriend up I decided to take a shower just in case this was the real thing. While in the shower I had my bloody show, and told my boyfriend to make sure all the bags and the carseat were in the car in case they sent us to L&D. My contractions weren't horrible but enough to make me never wanna leave my shower. 😣 We got to my doctors and started the NST, by then my contractions had become consistent at 10 minutes apart and were getting pretty uncomfortable but nothing major.

After the NST they sent me for an ultrasound and noticed my waters had ruptured and I didn't even know! They checked me and I was 3 CM dilated, off to L&D we went.

Once we got there and got admitted they confirmed my waters were broke and I was about 3 1/2 cm dilated, after poking me 5 times they finally got the IV in and fluids started. To get things moving I walked around for an hour and a half while waiting for my mom and dad to get there. After walking I only progressed to 4 cm and the contractions started to pick up, I caved and got the epidural. My anesthesiologist thought I was crazy cause getting the epidural didn't hurt, I honestly thought it tickled and I was laughing through it. 😂 After getting the epidural I couldn't help but shake uncontrollably and feel like I was freezing, then my babies heart rate was dropping, it dropped all the way to 30 at one time, my blood pressure was dropping and my heart rate was skyrocketing all the way to 150. The nurses decided to put me on my side, and thankfully my babies heart rate went back to normal and the nurse gave me a shot of medicine (I can't remember what it was) to raise my blood sugar and put heated blankets on me to stop me from shaking. After about 15 minutes my epidural completely stopped and I could feel everything again. They checked me and I was only at 4 1/2 cm and 80% effaced, they rang the anesthesiologist to come back and take a look at my epidural. He gave me an extra dose of it and said it should work now, I finally fell asleep for an hour or so when I got woken up to my babies heart rate dropping again, instantly they flipped me to my right side and her heart rate finally raised back to normal. After a few hours the doctor checks me, I'm finally at a 7! And the contractions are constant and in my back, by then my epidural again had completely wore off and I could feel everything again. I was screaming and crying in pain, nothing seemed to help. The nurse has me go on all fours and the pain gets even worse, I couldn't even hold myself up. After 10 minutes the nurse and my boyfriend lay me back down and check me, I jumped for a 7 to a 10! The nurse sets up and let's the doctor know I'm at a 10. He comes in and checks himself and tells the nurse to do some practice pushes with me and he'd be right back (it must have been the night to have babies, 4 other girls were in labor the same time as me, they had to call in another doctor and nurses from another hospital to come help). After 45 minutes of pushing the nurse has the doctor come in and the doctor says my baby is facing upwards instead of down, he has me push with every contraction and tries to turn my baby, Luckily at the last minute my baby decided to turn over herself and with an hour and a half of pushing after 22 hours of labor my little miss McKinnlie Rose entered the world on January 16th at 3:38 AM, weighing 6lbs 5 oz and 19 inches long with a full head of hair. 😭💗 I've never been more inlove with a tiny human.
