Trying to prove a point to my Fiancé- He feels entitled to choose ours sons FIRST, MIDDLE, and LAST (by default) name. Is this fair?

We have agreed on the first name although it’s not my favorite or my first choice, it’s just the only thing we agreed on. It’s a family name and his middle name. He wants to ALSO use his first name as the middle name so essentially his name reversed. The baby already is getting his last name and the first name we agreed on that he picked, I just want to pick the middle name.

I hope you show him the results of this poll! It should be a name BOTH parents like. Not to mention the fact you are the one carrying the baby for 40wks...maybe when he can grow and push out a baby he can have more say...

Ask him if it was a girl would he be ok with the baby having your name. Chances are the answer will be "no, why would we do that?" and then you can say why do you get to have a baby named after you and I don't when I put in all the work. It should show him how unreasonable he is being.

Tell him he can name the baby’s first and middle but he gets your last name. That’s the most important name and only one he is entitled to as a father who will be around his child(ren). The other two names should be decided as a parents. Luckily my husband has always liked the names I’ve picked but hated all of the middle names I wanted for our second daughter. He veto’d everything. Finally we found a version of both the name he wants and the one I want and compromised. My mom let my dad choose all of the boy names in my family (I have six brothers) and she got to choose the girls’ (my sister and I). She regrets it to this day and my youngest brother is 28!
