Okay so a little back story of why I decided to start keto, and my results. I had my 3rd baby in January 2018. I had gained 25 lbs during my pregnancy, I was put on a weight gain restriction, and told not to gain more than 30 lbs because of complications. Well after baby was born I was able to lose what I had gained, but then I got stuck. I could not lose any more weight. I had tried being more strict with portion sizes, working out, drinking nothing but water, ect. Around the time my baby was 6 months old I started off trying just lower carbs. I lost 10 lbs over the next couple months but became stuck again. So in October I just went for it and and decided enough is enough, I’m going to give keto a real shot. My keto starting weight was 289 lbs, that’s an embarrassingly high number. It’s been 5 months and I’m down to 242. I average about 10 lbs a month in weight loss. Slow and steady. I’ve gone from a size 22 to a size 15/16. I follow a program called dirty keto. It’s a lot easier to sustain this way of eating because its not as strict. Lowering carbs is hard at first. I started at 50g of carbs for the first couple weeks and finally was able to lower that amount to around 25g a day. The way dirty keto works is if the food your eating fits into your daily macros, you can have it. This is the best I’ve felt in a long time, I have so much more energy and an overall feeling of wellness. When I started I planned for 1 year and a 100 lb weight loss. I’m only half way to my goal, but I’m thrilled at the progress I’ve made so far. For anyone who is doing keto or thinking about doing keto, trust me it’s worth it. Don’t get me wrong during this process there have been a few times I’ve fallen off the wagon, and just ate the piece of pizza, but what counts is getting back on afterwards. Learning to hold yourself accountable, and not give up.
