How much did your wedding cost?

What areas did you cut back on or DIY to lower your wedding cost? We have no idea where to start with wedding expenses, so I'd like to see what the averages are, and we'd love some cost saving tips and tricks!

The best thing to do is decide how much money you want to spend and stick to the number. That will dictate where you want to splurge and where you’ll need to cut back.

I'm not married yet but we only plan to spend £500 or less. We are only inviting 2 people and getting married in a registration office or the field near a lake we love. We won't have a honey moon as we do not seen the point in them. 
My dress won't be anything fancy. I hate wedding dresses so it will be something different. My partner hates suits so he can wear whatever he wants. Afterwards we'll just go to pub for few drinks and food

Our wedding cost a bit over $27,000. When my husband proposed, he told me we did not have a budget. However, I told him we definitely need to set a budget because I know myself and I knew I would be cashing out lol.🤦🏾‍♀️😂 So we agreed on a $30,000 budget. Considering the fact that we only spent a bit over $27,000 of that budget, I think we did good. This budget does not include the amount we paid our Wedding Consultant nor does it include our honeymoon to Bora Bora.

I did a lot of diy... I got vases and bags of the larger rocks from the dollar store and then bought a pack of floating candles off amazon, then I got square mirrors from hobby lobby when they were on sale. If you have a hobby lobby near you, one week they have wedding stuff 50% off and then the next week it’s 50% off fake flowers and it just keeps repeating. I was able to rent a place that we paid by the hour so we were able to make our own food which saved a lot of money. The most we spent was on our DJ. I think we spent around $3/4,000. And people still talk about how much fun they had.

We kept it low key and spent ~$5000 on our wedding. Church wedding, reception at a pretty banquet center, catered food, blah blah blah. If I could do it all over again, I’d elope and pay for a good photographer!

My husband refused to let me know the price of our wedding and engagement rings. He knew I would pick something much simpler. We waited many years to get married and he wanted me spoiled. I now have the largest bluntest most gorgeous ring lol. 
We had about a 200 person wedding and it cost us about 25,000. We didn't cut back on food, alcohol, or location. Also our rings were never part of that number. We were also in our 30's and could afford to do so as well as not have any debt.
Where I cut cost is a purchased a sample dress from a high end designer instead of ordering a new dress. We had tons of real gorgeous flowers but I did all the centerpieces with my bridesmaids 3 days prior to our wedding. We also didn't do a traditional wedding cake. I went to Costco and purchased 18 cheese cakes and ordered cookies and bars from a local bakery and had a huge fancy dessert buffet. The items we cut costs on no one knew about. We also sold all of our decor after the wedding because it was such good quality and "in style" we did not do many diy projects because that is not everyone's taste. 
Weddings are great but never go into debt for one. Also make sure your debt is paid off. We also had 20% saved for buying our home by the time we were getting married. There is no reason a wedding cannot still feel special with a smaller budget.
