Can weaning cause your cycle to have some abnormalities?

I’ve noticed that in the two cycles since I’ve weaned, I’m getting some random spotting in the final week before my period is anticipated. 
I’m trying to think what has changed since this started happening. The only thing I can come up with is when I weaned my 14 month old. 
Could there even be a correlation there or am I way off base?

I’m glad you mentioned this! I have been trying to find someone with a similar issue and haven’t been able to. My son is 11 and a half months and has drastically cut down on his feedings. I got my period back when he was 10 months old so I’ve only had one cycle. I’m due for my second cycle today but the last week I have spotted twice. It had cm mixed in with it so I was thinking oh no I’m pregnant again but pregnancy tests are negative.
