Baby helmet

At our last two wellness visit our doctor has diagnosed our daughter with Plagiocephaly and Torticollis. She mentioned that we should look into putting our baby in a helmet. Well on the second visit, she said her head has gotten worse and her ear is moving forward and down. I talked to the physical therapist and they agreed and also pointed our that her forehead is bulging out.

I’ve heard that these helmets can be really expensive and there may be a lot of out of pocket cost. I called my insurance and they are willing to pay 80% up to $1500 and anything over that cost would need a prior authorization.

Has any other parent been through this? What was your experience? If you don’t mind posting, what was the full cost of the helmet (before insurance or without it)? How did the baby do in the helmet? What was hard about having it?... etc.....
