My turn!💕

Stephanie • Married to my best friend. 08/25/17 Mommy to Olivia Grace

My due date was April 1st, but when I got one final ultrasound at 34 weeks, my baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead and that my girl was 6 lbs and 5 oz and the doctor said I would probably deliver between March 15th-20th. So the 20th rolls around and it seems like everything I do to try to induce labor reduces any cramping I had. So I figure I would stop trying. On the night of the 24th I had a cranial sacral massage lady come and work on my pelvis to open me up and hopefully get me into labor. I didn't think it would work since all the other stuff hadn't. Lo and behold at 3 am the next morning the last part of my mucus plug fell out and contractions started minutes after that and came quick. I was having a natural at home birth and within an hour I was in active labor. (I was 2-3 cm already before labor started). By 7:30am they broke my water since I was about 7cm and then that's when labor kind of slowed down. Contractions eventually got really painful and I was having second thoughts about a wanting to get an epidural, but at that point I was 8-9 cm. Thankfully I was able to labor in a tub for about 11 hours of my labor.

Unfortunately my baby was still really high in my canal and I pushed for 3-4 hours (It hurt so badly that I couldn't really push so they had me cough to have her keep at least somewhat progressing through my canal.) I then had to be held in a dangling position (a supported hanging squat) and a midwife with her fingers up in me holding me open while I pushed to eventually got my baby out. I was on heavy oxygen for the last 3 hours of the birth and actually briefly passed out as well about 30 minutes before my baby came. My baby's heart rate never got lower than 120, but if it had gotten any lower, we would have been transported to the hospital for c-section. But at 6:12 PM on March 25th my daughter came into the world weighing 9 pounds and 2 oz and 20.5 inches long. Had a 2nd degree tear and don't think I will ever do unmedicated again if I ever have any other kids 😅

The last picture is of her at almost 3 weeks old 💕💕💕
