About this photo...

I’ve been seeing this on Facebook lately. I got whipped as a kid. I had to get my own switch. My dad had a huge wooden paddle that he carved the word “punishment” into for when we were really bad. People have been posting under this photo glorifying spanking. The boast about how they whip

their children’s ass and how their kids are so scared of them so that’s why they are good. That’s disgusting. I was spanked as a kid and it didn’t make me mind my parents. It made me hate them and lie to them. And people are saying it’s okay to “spank, not beat” but to me there isn’t a difference. I will never hit my kid. I don’t want him to fear me. I want respect. How can I tell him it’s not okay to hit if I hit him?

And I know it’s up to the parent. If you want to spank your kid, then spank them. But I don’t agree with it. There are ways to raise your kid without physically harming them. Time outs, grounding, taking items away, talking to them. Idk. Sorry for the rant it was just bothering me.
