How much in advance did your baby start daycare before you returned to work?

I'm a teacher and am due back to work in September, and thought it might be good to start daycare early July (2 months before). My son will be  8 and a half months corrected age by then.
Is that too much in advance? I just want to make sure he's well adjusted before I start working again.
What have you guys done?
What do you guys think?

If you’re worried about adjustment a week or two really should be fine. You can start with just shorter time periods and build up to the full days. 
2 months is pretty early just for adjustment purposes. If you have other reasons for wanting to put him in though, then go for it!

Maybe start a month early but only do part time daycare so he can get use to it instead of going all day with him momma straight to all day with people he does know 🤷🏼‍♀️ Im sure you both will adjust with whatever you choose.

Where I live I have to go on a waiting list as soon as I know I’m pregnant. When I finally get the call for a spot I’m talking it. Otherwise I have to pay full price for a private daycare as opposed to subsidized.

I’m a teacher too. I started my son a week before I went to work. It was plenty of time. The hardest transition was the next summer. He was home with me (1 1/2 years old) all summer and when I was time to go back to daycare in the fall he cried for 2 weeks at drop off. Luckily my husband handled it!

I started her the same week as I went back and learned that lesson the hard way. I’d see if you can start your baby the week before you go back. That way you have time to deal with your emotions/ get last minute errands done/ set up your classroom. I tried having her with me while setting up and it was impossible. I’m also having her go an extra week after we finish so I can wrap up everything in my classroom without trying to entertain her!

A week before. I had pre-semester meetings that week, but was mostly available if they didn’t do well. They did fine by day 3 though.
