Hi all- I am in need of some help or advice...

12 years ago (long before we met) my SO lost his father to brain cancer yesterday we found out his mother has been diagnosed with lung cancer. They found 3 spots one looks extremely bad the other 2 are smaller- Friday she goes in for a biopsy to find out how bad it really is... their goal is to only biopsy the smaller 2 because the biggest is directly on her lung- depending on the results they get from the 2 will determine if they will biopsy the bigger one. They are going to get instant results so we will know everything Friday.

My SO works out of state so his sister is going to the appointment with their mom- I volunteered to help if she needs it however with us having a 1 year old and only me at home they think it’ll be too much.

With my SO already being through this cancer battle before with his father he is already stressing out and thinking the worst. He’s 1,500 miles away for weeks at a time- he’s already planning on quitting his job to come home (which I support 1000%) he has major regrets from his fathers passing and not spending enough time with him and he doesn’t want to do that again with his mom.

I am extremely sad over the entire situation as she has been like a mother to me over the years that we have been together as my own mother doesn’t play an active role in my life. I know my SO needs my support to keep him positive but it is extremely hard with him being so far away. I also know when bad/negative things happen in his life he tends to lash out, spiral and make horrible on a whim decisions- which terrifies me.

If anyone can offer me any advice on how to be there and support my SO it would be appreciated.
