Keto and Breastfeeding?

Baby is 2 Months, Is it ok to do keto diet while breastfeeding 🤱 ?

No the lack of carbs will dry up your milk. Just monitor what your snacking on. Need a snack? Skip the Graham crackers and grab an apple or some carrots.

It’s not recommended. You need the extra carbs and stuff. Just eat a clean diet (cut the fast food and still have carbs with food at home), cut out to much sweets. Limit yourself with stuff.

I know this is old but I want to share my experience since everyone seems to have something negative about keto and breastfeeding. My son is almost 3 months old and is ebf. I am working full time again so I pump while I’m at work. I have not noticed any decrease in my milk supply nor does my baby seem affected. If anything, he is gaining more weight faster. It’s been two weeks for me so far and I’ve lost ten pounds and I feel more energized and confident. The first week was hard but it’s worth it to me. If it ever affected my milk supply or cause any harm to my baby I would stop immediately but so far it’s been great for me. I also follow strict keto. I didn’t modify it based on breastfeeding.

I would recommend you read this book: Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols. It had so much information about pregnancy and postpartum healthy eating. I would highly recommend it. Has lots of info about breastfeeding as well as meal plans. Don't fear Keto, you just have to be informed.
