Born at 38 weeks birth story

Brianna

Just a warning, this will be a long post! I loved reading the long birth stories with all of the details in the end of my pregnancy and am so happy I get to share mine now!

This is my second pregnancy. My first was born at 40 weeks 2 days with no complications at all. This pregnancy was so much different! Still no complications just a lot more discomfort.

At my 37 week appointment, I was dilated 2 cm and had been seeing bloody show when I wiped three days in a row. We scheduled a membrane sweep for my next appointment at 38 weeks. After getting the sweep on May 29th at noon I went on about an hour long walk and experienced cramping in my back and pelvic area but still no contractions. I went into work the next day still feeling the cramps and when I went to the restroom I had a lot of bloody discharge when I wiped. I called my obgyn and they had me come in for a labor check. I was 4 cm dilated but not having consistent contractions so I was sent home and told to go into labor and delivery if regular contractions started. Around 5:00 pm the contractions started and got closer and closer together until 9:00 pm. We went to labor and delivery and I was 6cm dilated and the contractions were getting so intense I was begging for the epidural! About an hour later I had the epidural and was feeling so much better, but for some reason I could still feel pain in my pelvic area and legs. It definitely helped with the contractions but I could still feel a lot downstairs. They tried giving another dose but it just wasn’t really working and I started feeling a lot of pressure in my butt and vagina so it was time to push. We pushed for about 20 mins and she was out! The pain while pushing was so bad I thought I wasn’t going to be able to keep going, but I just kept breathing and pushing and it was over in no time and so worth it. I ended up having my daughter on May 31 at 2:01am. She is huge weighing 9 lbs and is 21 inches long but has no issues and is perfectly healthy and such a wonderful blessing ❤️ We don’t have a name yet so any suggestions are welcome in the comments 😊
