Boyfriend went through texts without permission. Is this okay?

My boyfriends brother called my phone and I gave it to him to talk on. He stepped out. It took a while so I went to check on him and he was going through my text messages. None were new. None popped up while he was on phone. He lied about that. I have a long term guy friend I text and still texted who he was passed about. Yes he can be flirty but I’m not and would never cheat. He accused me of cheating constantly and never would believe me or trust me. I take it this means he has always lacked trust in me and expected this. Was I wrong to still text a guy friend I knew before him? Was he in the wrong to go through my phone like that?

Well if your guy friend is flirtatious while you are in a relationship, that is disrespectful to your boyfriend, I’d cut him off

I couldn’t care less if my husband went through my entire phone - calls, texts, WhatsApp, pictures, emails, call list, contacts - whatever. I have noting to hide.
We use each other’s phones if we need to and ours isn’t in reach. We also have some shared accounts like bank etc and we know each other’s passcodes.
If you have nothing to hide and nothing shady on your phone but he’s still accusing you, it sounds like a guilty conscience that he’s projecting onto you.
Maybe you should look at his stuff since he looked through yours???

As long as you aren’t sneaky about this friend and never we’re romantically involved then I wouldnt see a problem. 
But was he looking for this person specially when snooping then found flirtatious texts? Roles reversed id be hurt if those where on my husband’s phone

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a guy friend. When I started dating my now husband me and my guy friend travelled together and slept in the same hotel room and bed. My now husband didn't mind at all. He knew we were best friends and he trusted me.

I see nothing wrong with a couple having access to each other things I don’t agree with how he did it if he wanted to see your phone he could have done so in your presence about the whole guy friend thing my husband and I do not believe in friends of the same sex because one always catches feelings like you just said he’s flirty would you like some girl flirty with your man even if he didn’t reciprocate it would make you feel uncomfortable so I say both partly in the wrong

While I don’t think having male friends is wrong, I DO think it’s disrespectful to let an old fling or guy you know is after you continuously flirt with you. Why not cut it off? Instead of just not flirting back... just straight up tell him to quit flirting with you and respect your relationship? It just seems like you want attention by letting him do that (and are probs leading him on) so in that sense I can see why your bf would be ticked off

I have guy friends and we make jokes that can sometimes appear to be flirting to people who don’t understand our relationship. My fiancé has full access to my phone and has never had a negative thing to say about my friends, in fact when I talk about them to him he always says they sound like people he’d want to hang out with
