I have no idea whats up

Im gonna start it off with i know i should go to the gyno. So the past 3 days my whole vagina region has been hurting and has been slightly itchy. I went to go look and everything from my vagina opening to my clit is all red and irritated. When i go to itch i get this white stuff under my nails. Like i said I know i should go to the doctor but im the type of person that i had going to the doctor for something i can fix at home. The kicker though is i constantly feel like i have a tampon in cause it feels like something is inside my vagina but i know nothing is there. I dont know if anybody else has felt like this before but if anyone has any idea what it is i would love your advice.
