Should I get a promise ring? Opinions please!

I'm 16 and my boyfriend asked me the other day how I would feel if he got me a promise ring. We've been dating for almost a year. He wants to get married when we're 21 or 22 but I'm thinking more around 25 if we're still getter. Is it too early to think about marriage seriously? I don't know what to think. I'm scared and excited but I'm always scared that everyone in my life will leave me in the end. I guess I have some commitment issues? Idk but i think i would like to marry him one day because I always want it to be him that's there with me through everything. I love him so much and he treats me like "his queen". Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Please help!!! Thanks.

The interesting thing is that I first posted this poll on the teen relationships and the majority says yes. It's a different response here, probably because if ages and experience. Thanks to everyone's input so far and I hope to get more opinions as well cause I still don't know what to do.

You just have to do what YOU want. Honestly you’re so young, a promise ring won’t mean you’ll be together for sure.  
My life changed sooo much between 16 and 21, I changed so much. There’s a lot of growing in between those years and while some people stay with one person just know you may not and you shouldn’t feel like you have to just because of a ring. You can force feelings if they happen to change as you become an adult. 
I personally would have never ever committed to a highschool boyfriend despite how much I felt I loved them at the time. Plus I’m a strong believer that you need to live with someone and learn how to function with them as a partner and an adult before signing any legal documents.
 Your ability to love matures greatly as you enter your 20’s, for some people it grows for their highschool sweetheart and for many it grows out of them. If I’d stayed with any of mine I wouldn’t have moved away to the city and met my current partner of 4 years. We met at 20 and 30.

I mean, personally at 16 I don't think I'd be seriously thinking about it but it was always in the back of my mind. I met my now husband when I was 13, married him when I was 24 after 11 years together. We'll be married 3 years in August and have a 17 month old son together. If that's what you both want then there's no reason why it shouldn't happen, if you want him to get you a promise ring and he wants to then go ahead! It's your happiness you need to think about 😊

We all go through it st that age. At that time I had been with a guy for three years and he would say he wanted to marry me as well. A promise ring is cute but don’t always take it too seriously. I mean I wish you the best and for it to workout but the majority of the time it doesn’t. Out of all my high school classmates only two stayed with their significant other. I believe at that age we are so close to being 18 we are more focused on figuring out how we want to live our lives once we hit the “I’m an adult” stages. Just enjoy your relationship and if he gets you the ring then accept it if you want it, but keep in mind that if his actions don’t comply with what he promised you don’t even for a second believe you’ll get married.

Sounds a little young for a promise ring because a lot can change between 16 and 18 nevermind to 21. However why would he want to give a promise ring to you?; Possible sex?, Peer pressure? There's definitely reasons to do a promise ring but you still need to consider your relationship and what promise you would make to him as well as what promise he is making to you.

Go for it if you want, but a lot could change by then. I’d say just stay together if you feel it’s right or break up if you feel it’s wrong. The ring won’t (and shouldn’t) change anything until it’s a wedding ring with a solid cow behind it.
I dated my high school boyfriend who treated me perfectly from when I was 15 to when I was 20. He was great and I was certain we were going to get married, but at 19 we realized we were different people with different goals in life, and had a falling out.
Two months later, I met my husband when I was 19, and we got married when I was 25. Now I’m 29, and we have a 3 month old baby girl, and I sometimes think about how different it would have been if I stayed with him because he was my HS sweetheart. My husband is the man meant for me and this is the life I was meant to live. I still see my ex bf on social media from time to time, and who he is now is almost unrecognizable from the boy I remember. He’s still a great person (I think), and it seems like he’s with a woman he loves; one much better of a match for him than I could ever be.

I'm 17, and I have a few opinions. To me, one year is not enough to say that a promise ring will mean anything. There's things that need to happen before you two ACTUALLY consider marriage for the future. 
Personally, I have a 3 year rule for promise rings.

I got my promise ring after my 16th birthday. Got engaged few months before turning 19 and got married after turning 19 🤷🏼‍♀️ Do whatever you want. Don’t listen to people.
I will be getting married in 3-4 years in front of our families. People already talk shit enough
