Is what I said offensive?
I stated I hadn’t been overseas in awhile today and this girl said she’d never been, so I said aww why? And she replied pretty rudely saying we don’t have the money. This is fair enough some people dont and that’s okay.
the conversation went on a bit and I said neither do we really we just save up for it, and she started get snarky saying “good for you” and making it sound like I was a brat for being overseas.
So I said your mums a teacher though isn’t she and she said “yeah” and I said that’s more then my mum earns and she has 3 kids relying on her for support (and she’s a single mum but I didn’t say that)
Now If that’s what it was left at I would be mad too, just because her mum earns more doesnt mean she has more because who knows what she has in her life.
But she snapped and was like “how dare you assume our financial position and just because of that you have no right to say that”
And so I was like I’m not assuming...(and was about to say I have no idea what her lifes like but my mum saves up for traveling its her priority)
But she still went off, but honestly I thought about it more, and this girl spends $70 on shampoo and conditioner and buys lunch everyday which cost $6.50 and her sister does too. That’s $13 a day and after a year at school alone is $2600 in school lunches. It depends what you put your money towards.
Was I in the wrong or was she for getting snappy at me? I just see it as you choose what your money goes towards and there’s no reason to be mad at me that you haven’t been overseas.
