What does a first tooth look like?

Hi all! My son is almost 6 months and is gnawing on his fingers and anything else he can get his hands on, and drooling up a storm. I know he’s teething and I also know it can take a while for a tooth to pop thru, but I’ve noticed he has a white dot on his bottom gum right in front, almost in the middle. Could that be a tooth? Or something else? I read online sometimes it can be a calcium deposit but then they go away, but his hasn’t- it’s been there at least a week if not longer. I’d post a picture except he WILL NOT let me near his mouth to open it 😂
