What to bring for new mom and dad?

When visiting a friend with a new baby for the first time, we planned to bring a stuffed animal or something for baby, but also wanted to get something for the mom and dad... what would you want??
EDIT: food options are limited because they are a 4 hour drive away so most things we could cook would go bad in the car ride!

Bring a meal and an extra one to pop in their fridge/freezer.
And do their dishes

Freeze a lasagna or something along those lines. Then put it in a cooler when you travel. Or bring a gift card for a local take out restaurant. My favorite was when people brought food. As for baby - I’d go with an outfit or a toy rather than a stuffed animal. We have so many stuffed animals and our son (14 months) ignores all of them.

Freeze food and bring in a cooler. Or when you get there, grab some takeout to bring over! And house chores... a vacuuming, tub cleaning, and dishes... it’s magical!

Pamper type stuff for mum that's quick and easy:
Lip balm, plain bath stuff like nivea or dove, dried fruits in bags so they don't perish, dry shampoo, face wipes.
My advice, if baby is less than one month, stay no more than 40 minutes lol. That is plenty and they will likely be polite and not ask you to leave, but most mums I know say this is about an appropriate amount of time to stay.

I would just text and ask when you get close! Ask if they need diapers/wipes/formula or even a coffee!! Every time someone asked me I wanted a Dr Pepper lol

You could also ask them if they need anything from the store while you are on your way to see them. That is also helpful.

Food! Something cooked which they can heat up.
When my daughter was born, a friend made me a huge box full of packets of granola bars, packets of nuts and dried fruit, cookies, crisps etc and it was amazing. I kept it by the bed for all the night time feeds
