Interested in hearing opinions on co-parenting and moving?

So from what I’ve heard on this app if you are co-parenting and want to move this could be denied due to moving to far away from the other parent. I completely understand why this is put in place. But it just seems so extreme to not ever be able to move to another state or hours away without the other parents permission for 18 years. What’s your opinion on this?

It’s a commitment to have a child. It’s a commitment to coparent. 
If you’re a person who like to move a lot or relocate frequently, then having a child with someone who doesn’t want to live the same lifestyle isn’t the best choice for you.

I get that it may feel restrictive and unfair to the parent that wishes to move, but in co-parenting situations moving would just complicate things. It especially affects things like daycare and schooling plans. If one parent moves a few hours away, then that restricts visits to weekends or less for one parent, when they could have been seeing the kids daily before hand. In situations where one parent moves a lot farther away, there usually has to be an agreement where one gets the kids for the summer and the other during the school year, which is also not ideal for co-parenting. It's simply better for both the kids and the parents if they stay close in the long run, in my opinion.

Yeah it is extreme. No matter how you swing it it’s unfair for both parents but I guess that’s just the way it is. Unless you can come to some sort of agreement with the other parent.

Ugh that’s what I’m going through with my oldest, we moved like an hour and 15 minutes away for my husbands job and my son wanted to go with us and his dad freaked so I filed for a RFO move away case and it’s getting crazy expensive and I feel like his dads chances are high to win 😭😭
