How does alcohol work?

Ok so say something is like 14% alcohol, does that mean every drink you take of that is going to have 14% or is it just the whole bottle that has 14% in it and if you took a shot it would be a way less percentage.

14% of the contents is alcohol. A 6oz glass of wine, or a whole bottle of wine, is the same percentage. The amount you consume, dictates how much alcohol gets into your system, and how intoxicated you get. The percentage isn’t going to change though.

It's a percentage. The beverage is a solution where "14%" is the concentration of alcohol. Whether it's a shot or the whole bottle, 14% is how much alcohol there is per unit of volume. Its constant. 
Say you have a 100 ml beverage. 14% is alcohol which is 14ml. Say that 100 ml came from a bottle, for simplicity sake, that was 1000 ml. Its still 14% alcohol, so the bottle contained 140 ml alcohol. The percentage doesnt change if the solution is not diluted or mixed with something else. The differences in volume changes the total amount of alcohol. 
A smaller serving of the beverage will have less alcohol by volume, but the concentration of alcohol stays the same.
