Please tell me the police officers that shoot unarmed minorities don’t have racist political views.

While most civilians live their life and can do their job while separating their political

The problem is somewhere along the line people gained a superiority complex. Where people in power that are supposed to be neutral parties, end up extremely biased. Both conservative and liberal parties have some FUCKED UP ass people and views that are EXTREMELY oppressive. So yes to an extent political views are very important to me. They’re literally the definition of the persons “being”

i feel like SOME police officers definitely let their own personal opinions affect their work, but i don’t think they should. i had a very memorable moment at Comic Con a few years back where there was some bible thumpers protesting outside saying we were all going to hell, and i went to go try and have a civil conversation with them, and a police officer who was sent to do nothing more than maintain peace came up to me and told me that all gay people are going to hell and that i needed to walk away. i said “sir, respectfully, you’re here to monitor the situation and nothing more. keep your negative and disgusting opinions to yourself” and he threatened to handcuff me

That was before I learnt that discrimination could be a political view though. 
If your political views align with your (or other third parities) “right” to discriminate... then no you shouldn’t be a cop.

Something more departments need to do is analyze the politics of the way their police feel about policing— a lot of police officers frequently take criminological theories out of context and enforce them in ways that the theories were not meant to suggest enforcement take, for example. A police officer’s views on politics will always influence their decisions with policing, even if it is so subliminally minor that it does not seem so at face value, and that’s not always a bad thing, but many times it is.
