Insurance - copays - oh my

This is general- since I am just starting this process much like many of you, costs etc are all foreign. $120 for this $200 for that $700 for something else.

Every time I’m told a cost, I call my insurance and confirm. 100% of the time insurance informs me that I could get these services, medications, shots, at a cheaper rate.

For the oviderm shot, the online rx was going to be $168 - my insurance has a “specialty pharmacy” going through them I’m only paying my copay.

My HSG was going to cost me $1,100! I call my insurance and they said, that’s crazy, you should shop around, whattayaknow I did and with insurance it’s only going to be $231!

Just be sure to be your own advocate, don’t be hesitant to call around, call your insurance company, they’ll answer any questions and walk you through what to do and how to get a discount. I was worried my drs office would be offended that I didn’t go through who they suggested and when I said it was $1,100 they said oh no, that’s a lot...you told me to go there! 🙃
