Separation/ Divorce

My husband and I are in the process of a legal separation. I have two kids, 4 and 1 years old. How do you go about talking to them about mommy and daddy separating. We are not going to be living together and all that.

Has anyone gone through this? If so how did you talk to your little ones?

I want it to be as gentle as possible. I know at their age this stuff is complicated and they have limited abilities to understand it.

I want them to know that they are going to be save. Simple is best to explain Im sure.
