C section anesthesia and ligament pain. What to expect?

Last pregnancy had a huge amount of complications in the last few days of it and ended up in an emergency c section under a full general anaesthetic. What should I expect from either epidural or spinal?

I obviously will be chatting in depth with my doctors but I find other women having been through it generally have more insight that just what to expect medically.

Last c section I had some severe ligament pain in my groin - it burned (to the point of needing ice packs) and I had no idea what it was until the nurses worked out it was where the doctor pushed to close. Is this something most people have?
