I called off the wedding/relationship.

I just called off my wedding/relationship with my now ex fiancé. I am asking my God, if I did the right thing..

When we have an argument, or I would say something that he doesn’t like, he will tell me to leave, say “you know where the door is”.. if I told him how I felt about something, he would get defensive.. give me an attitude... if I didn’t do something he said, he would yell(granted this only happened once).. I mentioned counseling at our church, he would agree, then say no, it’s a waste of time. I told him the counselor would like to talk to him, and my fiancé not once asked for his number/email, showing that he wants to fix things.. I need advice/words.. I’m begging.
