FTM breastfeeding
I’m a FTM, obviously new to breastfeeding. My baby girl is 8 days old and was born at 38 weeks.
I feel like every time I feed her, she doesn’t fill up on my milk. She falls asleep and sucks on and off. I try to wake her or keep her awake but she just won’t. However, after feeding on both breasts she wakes up and is always crying for more and I normally have to give her another 1.5-2oz of pumped milk from a bottle. I have to use a nipple shield, so I was told by a LC to pump after every feeding since there is a barrier between us. We also supplement with formula at night. I had to do this at the hospital as well bc my milk wasn’t in. I still feel like it’s not in ? Everyday I produce a little more, but the most I’ve ever pumped was 2 oz ... I’ve never been engorged or felt like my boobs were super full of milk ...
I guess my question is, is all this normal ? Should I be doing something more consistent to produce more or get her to drink more ?
Thank you ! (Pic of my daughter bc she’s just too cute 💕)
