Blood cloths

Hi ladies i am 50 years old I had my birth control removed after 10 years and I was always irregular and light when it came to my period. Today after the first month without my birth control I have horrific blood cloths coming out thought the day. My pap was normal and all exam were normal last month. I am active and was just concerned why I am having this and if I should go to a doctor thank you :)
