Depot shot does it stop your periods?

I only just recently got on the depot shot, and I’ve just seen my period is late, is this something that can happen on the shot or should I be buying a test?

I’m on the shot currently and last month I didn’t have a period at all while all this month I’ve had one. When my friends started out as well they had their periods for a few months as well while some didn’t get theirs at all. So I guess it just depends on you and how your body takes the hormones
