Weekly appointment checks

This may be a rant. I’m currently 37wks+4. I went for my 37th wk appt and my doctor refused to check my cervix saying that they only check at 38 1/2 wks. I had just had my cervix checked at 36wks (different dr) and she attributed it to the group b strep test. Is this true or was she just being lazy? I really do not like this doctor since an incident from early on in my pregnancy and I don’t want to just add reasons not to like her even more. When have you all started getting checked? Was it every week?
