Flu shot?

Question

I asked my close family (parents and in-laws, siblings) to get the flu shot this fall since our twins are due at the beginning of the year, and everyone knows twins may come early which makes them even more fragile! 
My mom said they already got theirs, but my in-laws didn’t say anything..... am I out of line asking someone to get a shot?

Nope! It’s never out of line if that’s what makes you feel comfortable. With my first I told my parents and In-Laws they needed to please get one. My dad got his first one ever and my father in law gave in too. 😂 now that we are having twins I will ask again and won’t feel bad doing it. Thanks for the reminder too. I’m going to text everyone now. :)

Not at all, I asked all the grandparents to make sure their tdap was up to date too.  Everyone got their tdap and flu with no issues.  My in laws were already planning to.  I just explained to my mom why it was important because I don't think she realized and she had no problem with it.

Nope! Everyone that will be around my twin boys are getting their flu shots and also their Tdap. Most of my family works on the medical field and have to have flu shots anyway so no one was opposed to it and all very much understand

I don’t think it’s unreasonable. I didn’t let my twins around anyone who wasn’t fully vaccinated and my husband’s dad is a anesthesiologist so he was very strict about people washing for two minutes and up to their elbows which helped a LOT

No, but it's also ok if they don't want to get a shot... as long as they know they won't be seeing babies until after flu season is over.

I wouldn't ask anyone to get a flu shot. Wash hands and no one that has any sort of sniffles around yes. I may also decide I don't want anyone holding them for a while but no I will not tell anyone they must get a flu shot.  That is a personal decision and not mine to make for anyone.

I made everyone going to be visiting get all their boosters, so glad I did too because they arrived early and after a NICU stay needed all the protection they could get. We had some relatives refuse, they just havent met the babies yet 🤷‍♀️ their choice and their loss

I don’t think it’s unreasonable if you feel strongly about the topic. However, I wouldn’t have bad feelings against any that chose not to or didn’t have a response. Not everyone believes in the flu shot and just because they didn’t get one doesn’t mean they are just infectious for the season. The flu shot is a guess which strain is going around and doesn’t guarantee it’s for the right strain of the flu. I worked at the hospital when I was pregnant, during flu season, and the strain going around wasn’t even the strain the shot was for. Just be attentive of symptoms or slight “not feeling well” in anyone that touches your babies. I had my boys 9/23 and 9/24/2018 right at the beginning of flu season. Myself and both twins got sick when they were 4 months old. They barely had a cold symptoms and I was down 100% with the flu with no help. Just hubby and I. We survived. I paid attention to every symptom they had and kept track of their temp (they never ran a fever). None of us had the flu shot. I should also mention we live in the country and it is almost always just hubby and I. The boys only go into town when they have doc appointments so we aren’t exposed to the general public much other than my husband.
