Asking my boyfriend to wear a condom

So I have the birth control nexplanon, but it’s at the end of my three years on it and I’ve been increasingly paranoid that I’ll get pregnant. Last month I worried all the way up to my period and this month I didn’t want to repeat that. So I asked my boyfriend to please wear a condom until I can get an appt to my doctor to update my birth control. He didn’t respond how I was hoping. He got upset saying he will not wear one because he doesn’t like them and they give him a rash. But I feel like he is lying to me about the rash because he has to wear gloves at his work and has never had an allergic reaction from those. I tried asking if we could buy a brand that didn’t have latex or asking if maybe ones he tried before had spermicide in it and maybe that irritated his skin..but he shut down all options and rolled over and went to bed. I’m frustrated because I go through years of side affects thanks to my birth control and he can’t even work with me to find something that can work for us in the meantime of me getting my new birth control. I know latex allergies exsist and he very well could have one. But the way he reacted angry for me asking was off putting to say the least and makes me wonder if he is being truthful. What are my options?! Is anyone else’s SO sensitive to condoms?
