ECV - 37 weeks

Shara • Australia • 💕 Mother to Archer (June 2018) + Oscar (December 2019) + Charlie (July 2021) 💙💙💙

So I’ve just found out baby has turned which has made him breech. He’s been head down this whole time but must have turned a few days ago as I’ve had reduced movements since (which is why we found out - I mentioned it to my midwives which lead to monitoring and a scan). We’ve decided to try an ECV and they’ve said if he turns successfully, they may want to induce me straight after. I didn’t even think to ask why but I’m presuming maybe so he doesn’t have a chance to turn back again? Trying to avoid a c-section but if it happens, it happens.

My question is:

If anyone has had an ECV, any advice? Bit nervous for the whole thing really. It hasn’t worked for either of my SILs which makes me anxious and they’ve both said it hurts worse than anything.

Also, any insight as to why they may induce straight after? I will be asking when I see my midwife Monday but I’m curious now.

PS: this is my second baby and I’m 37 weeks tomorrow.
