Period or miscarriage?

I’m sorry if I am posting in the wrong group, I’m not sure where exactly to post. My fiancé and I were trying ttc this month and I thought that I was pregnant because of the symptoms I had that I never had before my period, I tested early like 6 days before my period was due and it was negative. On Wednesday I started lightly spotting up until yesterday night in which I thought maybe I could still be pregnant since spotting is common in early pregnancy. This morning I woke up and thank God I put on a pad last night but I bled like I’ve never bled before on a period my whole pad was filled with blood with some little clots. As I was cleaning myself every time I wiped it was blood with a lot of little clots in it. I’ve never had that either. Does anyone know if that’s just a heavy period or an early miscarriage? I’m not too sure since I’ve never had a period this heavy before.
