Period question

I feel stupid even asking this...but does the length of a period impact when it starts the following month? For example, my period lasted a week/tapered off after about 8 days last month, and this month I was supposed to get it 2 days ago but still nothing. I did take a test this morning and it said negative, but since my period was longer last month than it usually is I didn’t know if that even mattered. I’m pretty much regular (every 29-31 days give or take) but I know worrying about it can cause delay as well. I had my son in February but surprisingly have been pretty regular in getting them since I had him.
