IRREGULAR PERIOD

Okay guys, this is my first post since joining a couple years ago. & I just need some advice... my dr told me that I have cysts on my ovaries (which I had already figured) which is why my periods are irregular. Which is fine. I've come to accept it. BUT!! I'm at a dilemma & idk what to do. Normally my periods are about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks long & every 4 months or so I'll not have a period for a whole month.. dr said it was the cycsts.. fine.. but this cycle has been going since november... this is the first & longest period I've ever had. I called my dr & can't get an appt till February... what am I supposed to do if my period keeps going? Like I'm at a complete loss...
