Just a boss rant- I bitch about my job too much, I just need a new one

My boss gets calls on the direct line ALL THE TIME. Even tho, he’s hardly ever in the office or near his phone. I can’t forward it to him and I always have to take a message and he always gets pissed off because I “don’t get enough information”. So everytime they called I asked “would you like to leave him a small message” or “okay, may I ask where you’re calling from” or “May I have a small message” and almost every single time they say “No, he should know why I’m calling” or something similar and only leave a name and a call back number. But somehow I’m always wrong and don’t try to get any information even if I explain to him that I asked and they wouldn’t give me any more info. What the fuck do you want me to do, beat it out of them? So I started asking straight up questions, and he told me I was asking for too much information and being too straight forward. I got frustrated and asked him to just write me a script because I don’t know what to do at this point and he get snootie and said “I shouldn’t have to show you how to do your job”

Like wtf? No one else had a problem with it originally either, just him. He’s always up my ass with something I’m doing wrong. It’s fucking exhausting. I don’t have a problem with being called out and put in my place if it’s needed. I’ll take it, but when it’s to the point of almost harassment, I’m not gonna take it.
