Child Support Process?

So, I’m a young, single mother living in Oregon & currently have Oregon Health Plan Insurance for me & my newborn. When I called to get my son on my health insurance they required me to turn over his father’s info so they could attain child support..

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to send a letter to him & know the process at all ? Like, will I know when he’s been ordered to court ?? How do I know if he has to pay ? I’d really like to be prepared for everything but have no idea about this process...
