Anyone with a short labor able to get an epidural?

Question

My biggest concern with my second baby is not making it in time for an epidural! I labor with my son was only 12 hours start to finish and the on-call OB who delivered said that was a fast labor for my first and I would likely go in half the time or less with my second. Wondering if anyone was able to get an epidural with a short labor?

My labor was 4 hours from when I got to the hospital and i still got an epidural. It was also my firstborn

4 hour labor. I Walked into labor and delivery and was told I was 10 cm already and I couldn’t have an epidural. Honestly it depends on the hospital and doctor.

My first labor was 5 hrs from start to finish, and I was able to get an epidural! My second though.. was only 2hrs from start to finish. I got absolutely no pain meds (even though I BEGGED for them lol). I will say though, post recovery was easier after my second 🤷‍♀️. I'm pregnant with my third now and terrified again that I wont be able to get any pain meds due to a short labor.. so we'll see! Good luck and hopefully you can get your pain meds if you want them!!

Both of my labors were under 4 hours, I did not get the epidural with either, I asked both times, but by the time the anesthesiologist got there the first time I felt it was time to push, and it was so I had a baby instead (very chaotic and quick first labor). Second labor was quicker, but I was more prepared so it was less chaotic, but still, by the time I asked for the epidural and they came to talk about it and do it, they made it sound like it wouldn’t kick in quick enough for it to help, so I opted out 🤷‍♀️  I think the second time if I had asked sooner it would have worked out, but I had wanted to try without again so I held off as long as I could.

My labor was 6 hours and I got the epidural 3 hours in. As soon as you start to feel the contractions are STARTING to get unbearable ask, because if you wait till you cant stand them itll be harder to get the epidural and might be too late. 
I got mine, they broke my water an hour later and she was born 2 hours after

I have a 7 year old who was my second he was born signing 8 hours & was able to get an epidural. Right now I have a 1 week old was in labor for 12 hours & was not able to get the epidural right when they where going to apply it boom my water broke n he was ready to come out

Mine was 9 hours and by the time I went into the hospital it was too late which was fine with me. It hurt but it wasn’t unbearable and once you are holding your baby the pain is gone
